California Continued

Updated: May 30, 2022

On April 7th, we made our way to San Benito RV and Camping Resort in Paicines, CA for a 3-week stay. This is a nice park in a natural setting with a lot of wildlife, including squirrels, wild pigs and deer.

Paicines is just a few miles from Pinnacles National Park. This park is not as well-known and sometimes considered a hidden gem. It is also among one of the nation's newest national parks. The park was created more than 23 million years ago from the eruption of several volcanoes in the area. We enjoyed hiking around the park and exploring one of the caves for a few hours. Myah wasn't allowed on the trails, so unfortunately, we left her behind at the RV.

We took a day trip to the Monterey Bay area, about an hour away, during our stay at San Benito. We've been to this area a few times in the past, but it's always a fun place to explore. Myah enjoyed playing on the beach and walking around the quaint village streets of Cannery Row.

We left San Benito on April 29th and headed to Morgan Hill RV Resort in Morgan Hill, CA for a 7-night stay. This was a well-maintained park surrounded by the Santa Cruz Mountains. There are also several wineries in close proximity to the RV park. We went to a wine tasting during our stay.

Santa Cruz, located on the coast, was about an hour drive from the RV Resort. We drove there one day to check out the boardwalk and stroll along the rocky edge of the Pacific coastline. The spring flowers were in bloom and created a blanket of color along the trail.

Before heading back to Morgan Hill, we discovered we were close to the Redwood Forest and visited the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. What a great experience it was to be surrounded by these majestic giants as we walked along one of the trails in this spectacular park.

We had a nice time in San Benito. Next stop San Francisco!
