Wintering in the warm weather: from Palm Springs to Arizona

We started our journey to Palm Springs on January 11th and stayed at Palm Springs RV Resort in Palm Desert, CA for 3 weeks. Because we had stayed here before, there isn't much new to write about. We did our usual hiking and going to the night market in Palm Springs. It was a nice, relaxing stay and a break from our usual busyness.

We headed to Yuma, AZ on February 1st for a 16-night stay at Araby Acres. This is another repeat visit, so again we went at a slower than normal pace. It was time for our teeth cleaning, so we took a trip to nearby Los Algodones, Mexico for a cheap dental exam and cleaning. We had such a good experience last time, we decided to do it again, and for $25 you can't go wrong. We also had a delicious lunch at our favorite place, Molcas Taco, and Pat bought shrimp from the same guy he had bought them from the last time. They are now old friends. We spent the rest of the time enjoying the resort's pool and of course, hiking.

On February 17th, we made our way to Tucson, AZ and stayed at Voyager RV Resort for 14 nights. We had been to Tucson before, but hadn't stayed at this resort before. The park was part of our Trails Collection parks, so our stay was free. It is a 55+ community with an endless amount of activities, indoor and outdoor pools, a golf course, fitness center, and a wonderful dog park for Myah. They even have a hair salon. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and could envision ourselves spending even more time here during the winter in the future.

We did our normal hiking and biking as well as we drove up to Mt. Lemmon so Myah could play in the snow. She had a blast, as usual!

Desert adventures, biking around Tucson, Mt. Lemmon and relaxing at the resort.

On March 2nd, we moved about 8 miles south of Voyager to Tucson/Lazy Days KOA Resort for a 1-week stay. The reason we moved to a different resort was because we had family visiting us and wanted a more spacious site for all of us to get together. This resort was also a little closer to their hotel, too, making it more convenient.

My siblings and their spouses and my parents flew to Tucson the following day. We spent the time together visiting the Tucson Botanical Gardens, going on a desert hike, walking around the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, the Pima Air and Space Museum, and enjoying wonderful meals together. We were even able to meet up with my cousins, Matt and Laura, for dinner one night, who just so happened to be visiting during the same time. It was so nice to be able to spend quality time with family in such a beautiful setting! It was sad when we said our goodbyes on March 8th.

Family fun in Tucson.

On March 9th, we headed North to Mesa Spirit RV Resort in Mesa, AZ for a 21-day stay. We stayed here last time we were in the area. It is a great place to recharge and relax without the need to move for a while. I celebrated my birthday during our time here. I always wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride. I booked a sunrise balloon ride in Phoenix, and it did not disappoint. When it was over, we celebrated with breakfast, complete with a champagne toast. The crew even provided a cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to me. It was a truly breathtaking experience, one to be remembered always!

Birthday hot air balloon ride!

We spent our time enjoying a meal with fellow-RVers who we had previously met on the road, Deb and Mike @love4travelTV and new friends who live in the Phoenix area, Phoebe and Scott. We went to a performance of Star Wars at The Phoenix Symphony with our cousins, Suzy and Charles and went out to dinner to celebrate my birthday. We shared a lunch with my Aunt Barbara and Uncle Bob and cousins, Karen and Sophie, who winter near Phoenix. We spent a lot of time walking at the Riparian Preserve and the nearby towns of Gilbert and Chandler.

March in Mesa. Family and friends meet-ups and more.

We had a fantastic winter in Arizona, where we were thankful for the many chances to reunite with friends and family. The pleasant weather allowed us to relax and enjoy some downtime. Our Arizona journey carries on as we make our way north to Sedona.
